How Can severe Burning Sensation In The Throat Be Treated?
I have a constant very slight burning feeling in the back of my throat. It doesn t make a difference what I eat - it s there all the time. Tums doesn t change anything. I don t taste acid. Although I have been burping a little bit. It s been there for over 2 months. Any idea?
Hello, Thanks for the query. A burning feeling at the back of the throat is invariably due to hyperacidity or acid reflux. It is also referred as Gastro esophageal reflux disease. This is invariably due to increased acid production in stomach, plus due to weaker lower esophageal sphincter. Some times there may be hiatal hernia also. So it is better to get a proper examination done. In the meantime drugs like PPIs like Omeprazole or Rabeprazole once a day for a few days should help. Plus stick to bland diet. It is better to stay erect for over 2 to 3 hours after food. Avoid smoking and alcohol. Thanks.
